Yanks Abroad: The Week In Review

I apologize to my reader(s) for the better late than never version of “The Week in Review,” I know you have been missing sleep over it.

Rangers v. Aberdeen 4-7-10

Maurice Edu and the ‘Gers pulled out to a two goal lead before finishing off Aberdeen 3-1. 47,601 watched the full 90 minutes live, 47,602 if you count DaMarcus Beasley.  Edu played the full match and had an assist. Mo is stepping into the role of playmaker for the Rangers, just in time to dominate the World Cup.

Fulham @ VfL Wolfsbug 4-8-10

Fulham won 1-0 despite being without Dempsey, who was sidelined with a thigh strain. According to his manager, who has a vast knowledge of medical terminology and is also well renowned for his extreme accuracy and descriptiveness in injury prognosis stated, that Clint would be out for, “a period of time”.

Borussia M’gladbach v. Eintracht Frankfurt 4-9-10

Michael Bradley played every minute and didn’t break any bones or get a card. He did, however, put a shot on goal and commit a foul in the 2-0 win. The new copy of the four letter’s magazine features a story about Michael and the attitude he brings to the American squad.

Aston Villa v. Chelsea 4-10-10

In an FA Cup match at Wembley, Friedel and the boys took a 3-0 loss. Brad started and made as many saves as I did on Saturday, actually I take that back, I saved a half of a sandwich from lunch. Brad stepped to the plate and took the loss like a man blamed the referees. If you’re keeping track at home that is 10 goals in 180+ minutes for Chelsea against Friedel, he should be looking at the man in the mirror.

Hull City v. Burnley 4-10-10

Jozy played all 90, had an assist, three shots, one on goal, committed four fouls, and was shown a yellow. Unfortunately, Altidore and The Tigers are facing relegation and the loss of Steven Hunt, their leading scorer will not help anything. Or perhaps, Jozy steps to the plate and leads Hull out of the relegation zone.

West Ham United v. Sunderland 4-10-10

Spector played the full match and committed a pair of fouls earning himself a yellow card. However, The Hammers pulled out a big 1-0 victory to move themselves four points clear of relegation.

Fulham @ Liverpool 4-11-10

Dempsey sat out the 0-0 draw. His coach indicated that he would probably miss this game as well, so not much of a surprise there.

Aris Salonika @ Asteras Tripoli 4-11-10

Freddy Adu got the start and Eddie Johnson came on in the 74th minute, both finished the game. Finding news on Aris is like finding sufficient evidence to charge Big Ben.

Injured Players

Stu Holden is a couple weeks away from full training.

Oguchi Onyewu and A.C. Milan will play against D.C. United in the Nation’s Capital on May 26.
