In a long overdue nod to a medium beyond the blank screen/printed page and social media, we at TYAC are pleased to announce that beginning Boxing Day and continuing weekly in 2017, TYAC will host a podcast.
Entitled “The Yanks Are Coming Soccer Show,” the show will feature coverage of both the US Men’s and Women’s National teams as well as the US youth teams. In addition to continuing our website’s national team focus, the podcast will cover the domestic professional game in the United States, including comprehensive MLS, USL and NASL analysis.
The show, which will have a weekly guest, will also contain vignettes, player interviews and special features on Americans perfecting their craft abroad. A weekly segment on the history of the game stateside will also be a staple.
The hosts for the show will be Neil W. Blackmon and Kartik Krishnaiyer.
Neil W. Blackmon is the co-founder and co-editor of TYAC.
A civil rights, criminal defense and immigration attorney by day, Blackmon is also a veteran soccer journalist whose work has been featured in a variety of outlets and mediums, including but not limited to Howler Magazine, The Sports Illustrated Soccer Podcast, World Soccer Talk, SB Nation, The Shin Guardian and The Cup.US. Blackmon has over 25 caps as a US national team journalist and has now written about two World Cups. He is presently writing a book about CONCACAF entitled “That’s So CONCACAF: Tales From the Shadowlands of International Soccer”, which he’ll complete in 2017.
Krishnaiyer, a lifelong lover of soccer, the beautiful game, served from January 2010 until May 2013 as the Director of Communications and Public Relations for the North American Soccer League (NASL).
Raised on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the old NASL, Krishnaiyer previously hosted the American Soccer Show on the Champions Soccer Radio Network, the Major League Soccer Talk podcast and the EPL Talk Podcast. He has also served as the in-game analyst and play by play commentator or co-commentator at various time for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers TV broadcasts. His soccer writing has been featured by several media outlets including USA Today, The Guardian and The Telegraph. He is the author of the book Blue With Envy about Manchester City FC and Soccerwarz about the showdowns between MLS, NASL and USL.
